Q: What carrier do you use for shipping?
A: We ship our products with the U.S. Postal Service both within the U.S. and internationally via Priority Express or Priority. If you have a UPS or FedEx account that you would like to use for your shipment, please contact us before placing your order.
Q: How can I pay for your tanks?
A: Checks still work. We exclusively use PayPal for CC payments. You do not need to be a PayPal registrant in order to use PayPal. When checking out, simply choose PayPal and enter your credit/debit card information.
Q: What is the turnaround time once I place an order?
A: Your tank is custom built and it takes between 2-5 weeks to ship depending on current demand. If you need your tank quickly, please contact John at sales@eti-fuelcel.com.
Q: Do your tanks require a bladder and/or do I have to apply a fuel proof coating on the inside such as “Kreem”?
A: Neither. FuelCels are inherently fuel proof and leak free by creating an impervious epoxy/kevlar shell matrix. In fact, in addition to adding weight, a coating would have nothing to stick to and could peel off and get into your fuel system.
Q: What happens if I damage my tank? Can it be repaired?
A: Typically yes. Most of the time the damage is very limited and repairs can be done in a week. The costs range from $100 to $500 with an average of $250. Send us a picture if you’re not sure to sales@eti-fuelcel.com. We’ve only totaled 4 tanks in the past 20 years!
Q: Can I do my own repairs?
A: Yes and No. If the damage is limited to a few square inches, a temporary repair can generally be affected by using a liberal smearing of “JB” Weld on that area. For the long-term, we prefer to do the repair in-house because of our knowledge of the materials and how to restore the tank to its original condition using the same materials that went into its original construction.
Q: I don’t live in the U.S., can I get a tank sent to me?
A: Sure! We have sent tanks all over the world. Shipping differs depending on the country so email us of your inquiry because the shipping costs can vary greatly.
Q: You do not list my bike, can I still have a FuelCel for my application?
A: Usually yes. We do require an original tank from which to begin a custom tank. In most instances, we can avoid any damage to the original tank in this process, but it is not a guarantee that the finish will not be chipped. Pricing varies, so please email us with your inquiry.
Q: Is the tank ready to paint?
A: Yes. Your painter will have to mask off certain areas and do the final sanding to the primer.
Q: Will I have to drain my race fuel from my tank?
A: The epoxy matrix that we use has never exhibited any problems with race fuels over an extended period of time however, it is recommended to drain and purge your fuel system as a good practice due to their extra volatility.
Q: Do FuelCels come painted to match my bike?
A: No. Even though manufacturers provide paint codes, it is difficult to provide an exact match so we have to leave it up to your local painter. We do have a painter at our disposal if you have no one available.
